For that : avoid the top of the hill and the area around the place du Tertre, a very crowded area full of tourist traps (a sad fact, specially for the few excellent places that remain in this area).

• Overview: This diverse neighbourhood with a past of violence and poverty offers a unique blend of cultures, with markets selling goods from around the world. The process of gentrification is well started, but hasn’t affected the prices too much yet. Some areas are still a little rough, while others have become very trendy.
• Why It’s Budget-Friendly: Known for its affordability, it’s a great choice for groceries and international cuisine, and offers cheaper lodging options. It is very well connected to the other areas of Paris, and is a good place to stay.

7. La Villette: Culture on a Budget

• Overview: Dominated by the expansive Parc de la Villette, this neighbourhood is home to science and music museums and venues, offering a wealth of cultural experiences without breaking the bank. Crossed by the Canal de la Villette, prolongation of the Canal Saint-Martin, it is a very active place in spring and summer, with many people picnicking, or gathering for open air cinema nights on its large and beautiful lawns, or having a drink before a concert at “La Grande Halle”, or “Le Trabendo”, “Le Zénith”, or the Philharmonie… which are all very popular venues for quality music in all genres.
• Why It’s Budget-Friendly: Affordable accommodations and free or low-cost cultural attractions make it ideal for budget-conscious travellers.

8. Batignolles: A Village Escape

• Why It’s Budget-Friendly: With more reasonably priced cafes and shops compared to central Paris, it provides a budget-friendly and authentically parisian escape. The area is changing rapidly, and this budget friendly area might not last forever.

9. Pantin: Industrial Chic Redefined

• Overview: Undergoing a dynamic transformation, Pantin, still a raw, multicultural and authentic area, home of many generations of migrants before they can afford living into Paris (a movement started with people from Alsace, fleeing their region annexed by Germany in 1870, followed by waves of portuguese, italians, jews, african, chinese or indian people), has gained attention for its converted warehouses, vibrant art scene, and canal-side views.
• Pantin is crossed by a charming canal (called Canal Saint-Martin in Paris. You have already heard of it) one of the main attractions of Pantin, and the area where housing prices have started to rise steadily.
• Why It’s Budget-Friendly: Being outside central Paris, Pantin offers lower accommodation costs while still being accessible by metro.
